Winona Lake Historic Home Restoration Project
The Lancasters weren’t looking for a new home, they wanted to preserve and restore a landmark in Winona Lake. As the family embarked on a total home renovation and expansion project, outdoor living quickly entered the conversation. Where would they entertain? Where would they cook out for friends and family? How would they like to use the property to spend time together in the evenings and weekends?
That is where we were able to help them. We learned more about them as individuals, as a family, and how they entertain with friends and family. This family loves to spend time outside, cooking, with friends and family. We designed spaces that allowed everyone to be together in the same space at the same time and not feel crowded.
Throughout the project, we had to work with the homeowners as well as their general contractor and remodeler. As with any older historic property, there are unexpected issues and challenges that arise. We all collaborated closely, made adjustments as needed, and built outdoor living spaces for everyone to enjoy.
Modern Lakeside Renovation
This Barbee Chain of Lakes property was going through a total make over inside and out. From the waters edge to the road, almost everything was updated and renovated. A historic lake cottage that had been remodeled and added on to over the past 75 years was due for an update.
The homeowner wanted a clean and modern look. One of their goals was to not let the landscape and home fade into the night after the sun went down. Landscape lighting was installed over the entire property so the spaces and property could be enjoyed after dark and sidewalks and steps became safe to walk on. A new sidewalk from the driveway to the entrance, new sidewalks and natural stone steps along the house to the lake, modern retaining walls, and all new beautiful lake themed plantings transformed this lake house into a property that boaters slow down to see.
Traditional Wawasee Cottage
This Lake Wawasee residence is an updated traditional lake home that wanted to keep the traditional lake house look and feel. The expansive property on the shoreline is loaded with plantings that provide color throughout the lake season and beyond. This client was experiencing challenges protecting and maintaining their beautiful spaces and that is where we stepped in to help.
Providing scheduled maintenance services throughout the year help keep the look of the property in pristine condition. Planting additions and enhancements in recent years have updated the look and feel of the property.
